Frequently Asked Questions

Will my U.S./Canadian auto policy cover me in Mexico?

No. When driving in Mexico, you are legally required to have Mexico auto liability insurance from a Mexico insurance company. Your U.S./Canadian full coverage auto policy may say it will cover you in Mexico, but most only cover a short distance beyond the border.

Do you have to buy Mexico insurance in Mexico?

No. In fact it is better to purchase coverage before you get there, otherwise you will not be insured until after you are in Mexico, putting you at risk. Look for policies written in English, with bilingual claims adjusters available 24/7, and bail bond assistance.

Can you tell me about the Mexico companies you use?

Mexpro's Mexico insurance companies are all A-rated by A.M. Best. They have been in business for many years, have a high rate of claims satisfaction, and are financially stable. For more information please visit our insurance partners page.

What if I have an accident or get pulled over in Mexico?

After purchasing a policy, you will get an email with the policy, declaration page(s), claims information, terms and conditions and a username and password to get back into your account. You will need to present these documents to the police officer in the event you get pulled over for a traffic violation, or have an accident in Mexico. You will also need the phone numbers on the documents to obtain legal assistance, travel assistance and contact a claims adjuster, if needed.
